Husband and wife team Urban Punk, Fred and Fallon Jones, joined fashion correspondent Nicole Briggs on discussing body image and gave tips on what to wear to help boost self esteem. Urban Punk’s line is sold at Leaders 1354 and is a line that focuses on avenues of positive expression. Urban Punk described their line as one that does not necessarily follow the trend, it is unique and different which makes them stand out in the fashion industry.

The hosts had to smile when pronouncing their musical guest, violinist Chihsuan Yang’s name. They interviewed the young prodigy who began playing the violin at age four. Since then, Chihsuan has earned her Bachelor of Music in violin performance from DePaul University, is a founding member of the Accende Ensemble, plays with the New Millennium Orchestra and is a part of Grammy-nominated Corky Siegel’s band, Chamber Blues.

The other musical guest, Freeform DJ Demchuk, spun live on the decks with music that made the audience wiggle in their chairs. DJ Demchuk is a resident at Liar’s Club every Tuesday and hosts the monthly End of the World Dance Party the third Thursday of every month at LAVA. Along with his DJing he teaches the art of circuit bending, which got him featured in The Chicago Reader and Chicago Magazine.

The accomplished and unique Katerina Papdatos talked about her interesting path that led her to a career in costume design and the arts and her current work as the costume designer for Shedd Aquarium’s FantaSea exhibit as DJ Supertoy spun live and had the whole studio dancing. Quintin and Neha made the DJ take a break from spinning on the one’s and two’s to interview the surprisingly timid DJ as well. A member of the Gold Fronts Media Arts Collective, DJ Supertoy spoke about his upcoming CD Panther and even performed a freestyle rap for the audience.

The pair was joined by two guests who shared their own personal perspectives and experiences with networking. Their guest DJ from the Movement Society who spun in the background was the revolutionary DJ 5/16. He gave his take on Chicago nightlife and his plans for it as well as networking. Also returning to the show was fashion correspondent and Shrink Boutique owner Nicole Briggs.

White Label DJs Sadie Woods and Madrid joined the NDH team and spun live in the background during the show and added their commentary throughout. Sadie Woods is an avant-garde traditionalist who received her BA in liberal arts from Columbia College Chicago and completed the prestigious International Curatorial Training Program at Ecole Du Magasin in Grenoble, France. Her partner Madrid is a post-modernist selector who has had experience performing around the world. The pair has two different styles that mesh together so well that the pairing is like no other. Together they hold residencies at various Chicago locations and have recently toured as DJs for Oprah Winfrey’s Trip of a Lifetime Mediterranean cruise.

Also joining the NDH team were two young motivational speakers, Ashley Winston and returning guest Karli Butler. Ashley Winston is an actress, arts educator and consultant who obtained her undergraduate degree in theater performance and a graduate degree in arts, entertainment and media management from Columbia College Chicago. She uses her experience in the arts and education to motivate and help others on their paths of self-discovery and purpose. Karli Butler is a young motivational speaker who was a victim of two vicious attacks and a kidnapping in 2006. She received her BA in communication and is pursing her masters in organizational and multicultural communication from DePaul University. She uses her experiences and education to motivate others. She has been featured in Goddess Magazine and on A&E/Biography Channel’s “I Survived”.

All the guests shared their thoughts on haters and how to deal with them. Hate and haters are everywhere and have affected everyone. The NDH team and guests speak on how to get over haters’ negative energy, turn it positive and move on.
